Cleansing your gut: why should you do it and what does it get you?

Do you sometimes suffer from abdominal pain, constipation, diarrhea, cramps or even a food intolerance? If so, your digestive system may not be functioning optimally. Perhaps your digestive tract has become unbalanced. Let’s face it: our food is largely processed or even ultra-processed. Just look at the packaging: the more preservatives and artificial flavors, colors and fragrances a product contains, the harder it becomes for your intestines to digest it.

Pollution of your body usually goes through your gut

Processed food is just one of the ways your body can become contaminated inside. Even if you eat healthy and watch your diet, harmful substances can accumulate. Consider substances from personal care products, drinking water, plastic containers and medication. But how do you know if this pollution is affecting you?

A handy rule of thumb: if you have one or more “vague complaints,” cleansing your gut may make sense. Vague complaints come and go, and a clear cause is often hard to find. Your energy level drops, or you sleep poorly. You sometimes have headaches or muscle aches, without having exercised heavily. Maybe you suffer from eczema or persistent pimples. These are symptoms for which you won’t go to the doctor right away, but they do indicate that something is wrong.

Why cleanse your gut?

Fasting – not eating anything for a while – is one of the oldest methods in naturopathy to strengthen and regenerate the body. Another important pillar in naturopathy is detoxification. Toxins, or toxins that are not properly excreted, are a burden on your body and can be a breeding ground for pathogenic bacteria.

You can compare it to a goldfish in a bowl: the fish symbolizes your cells and the water symbolizes the moisture that surrounds each cell. When the water becomes polluted, the fish becomes sick. You can then apply all kinds of drugs or therapies, but it is much more effective to first change the water in the fishbowl. In other words, cleansing your body allows your cells to function better.

Not for nothing did Hippocrates, a physician from Ancient Greece, state, “Good health begins in the gut.” Gut extracts nutrients from our food and carries away waste products. When the large and small intestines are clean and balanced, they can do their job well and complaints such as skin problems, abdominal pain, fatigue, PDS, allergies or heartburn would be much less common. Do you have such complaints? Then a colon cleanse may make sense.

In a polluted intestinal tract, waste products accumulate, reducing the absorption capacity of useful nutrients. What’s more, a polluted intestinal tract can stress the rest of your body. This phenomenon is known as a “leaky gut”: when the intestinal lining becomes damaged, bacteria and toxins can enter the bloodstream. These toxins can deposit in the connective tissue and skin, which can lead to inflammation. This explains why symptoms such as pain in tendons, joints or muscles can occur.

How do you clean your bowels?

Fasting alone is usually not enough to remove pollution from the intestines. Base Detox is a one-day detox treatment specifically designed to loosen and eliminate – during a single fasting day – accumulated waste in your intestines. Within 24 hours, the Detox cleanses your intestines, removing as much waste, fungi, harmful bacteria and even parasites as possible.

This rids your intestine of undigested food that may have been present for years. You can recognize this by a dark color in the stool. In this way, you can immediately see the effect of the cleanse.

After cleansing your intestines, your excretory organs work more efficiently, allowing excess fat and fluid to be drained more easily. This can cause you to lose a few pounds immediately.

For optimal results, add a one-week probiotic treatment and a four-week enzyme therapy. This not only helps cleanse but also supports the rebuilding of a healthy gut flora.

Effects of cleaning

Of course, a detox does not go unnoticed. You will notice something about it. The more waste products are stored in your body, the more strongly you will experience it when this “junk” leaves your body.

Here are some common effects listed:

  • Change in skin texture: Small bumps or spots may appear. This is because the pores in your skin play an important role in getting rid of toxins.
  • Active bowels: Removing waste products activates your intestines. This can temporarily cause flatulence and diarrhea.
  • Fatigue: During the detox, your body uses a lot of energy to cleanse the intestines, liver and kidneys. Therefore, take plenty of rest. An afternoon nap, light office work or a short walk can help. Also make sure you get enough sleep.
  • Headache: Especially people who regularly consume coffee, processed sugars or alcohol may suffer from this. Extra herbal tea with ginger and lemon or a grain of Celtic sea salt on the tongue can provide relief. Once detoxification is more advanced, the headaches will subside.
  • Metallic taste in the mouth: This can occur, as can bad breath. This is a natural excretory reaction and disappears on its own.
  • Irritability or emotional swings: During a detox, several processes take place simultaneously. Not only physically, but also mentally you can “detoxify. This means that you may temporarily be more emotional, get hit faster or react more violently to situations. This is normal and part of the process.

The result: fitter, more energetic and zest for life

After completing the Base Detox, your gut is a lot cleaner, and you notice it! You feel fitter, more energetic and zest for life. Abdominal complaints decrease, your skin gets a healthy glow and fatigue decreases. Moreover, you will see immediate results on the scales: you feel lighter, and you really do.

During each toilet trip, you will see what waste products your body has disposed of. We have heard countless stories about changes in smell, undigested residues and the surprising effects of the cure, such as improved concentration and more vitality. The detox restarts your body’s natural excretory processes, and this effect continues for some time. Thanks to the high concentration of enzymes in the product, the liver is also stimulated, so the cleansing continues.
